Location: Florham Park, New Jersey.

Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with various types of astronomical cameras and imaging systems, including CMOS cameras, telescopes, mounts, electronic & motorized focusers, filter wheels, and associated control systems.
• Perform repairs, calibrations, and alignments on cameras and imaging equipment to restore them to their original functionality and performance standards.
• Work with amateur astronomers and researchers to understand specific technical requirements and tailor astronomical equipment adjustments or modifications accordingly.
• Test repaired equipment under simulated observation conditions to ensure optimal functionality.
• Provide technical support to observatories, research institutions, and individual astronomers through effective communication and problem-solving.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, researchers, and software specialists to contribute to the development of next-generation imaging systems.
• Document all repair processes, adjustments, and modifications in detail, maintaining accurate records for reference and reporting purposes.
• Contribute to the improvement of repair procedures, tools, and techniques to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the repair process.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in repairing and maintaining complex electronic and optical systems, preferably astronomical cameras or similar high-precision equipment.
• Strong understanding of CMOS imaging sensors, optics, and spectroscopic techniques used in astronomical observations.
• Proficiency in using specialized tools, testing equipment, and astronomical software for diagnosing and repairing technical issues.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze intricate technical problems systematically.
• Effective communication skills to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders, including amateur astronomers, engineers, and researchers.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and reliable repair documentation.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• Passion for astronomy and a deep interest in contributing to the advancement of scientific research through technical expertise.
